'66 Fender Princeton Reverb | Vintage Amp Showcase | Feat. Giordano Guitars Veloce & Sunbear Pickups
The 1966 Fender Princeton Reverb — genuine vintage black panel from 60 years ago, and a whole lot of tone and pedal territory to explore. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
https://youtu.be/E3jqoIX082s?is=kTCbkE9N5McqChUi
The 1966 Fender Princeton Reverb takes the spotlight, paired with the Giordano Guitars Veloce — Sunbear SB-62PAT# Humbuckers, Emerson Custom Treble Bleeds. The Cunningham Amps Zonk MKI Fuzz, Origin Effects Deluxe 55, and Effectrode Tube Vibe all make appearances.
The Princeton Reverb's black panel AB763 circuit is one of the cleanest, most neutral platforms in the entire vintage Fender catalog — no inherent grit or coloration baked into the amp itself, just headroom, chime, and that famous mid-scoop. That neutrality makes it a genuinely great canvas for testing what different pedals actually do to a signal, rather than a starting point that's already coloring the tone before anything gets stomped on.
The Sunbear SB-62PAT# Humbuckers in the Giordano Veloce — short-length Alnico V magnets referencing the brief Gibson transitional era between the PAF and Patent Number decal — bring a bright, spanky character reminiscent of the best vintage SG pickups. The Emerson Custom Treble Bleeds keep that clarity fully intact through every volume knob sweep, across clean tones and everything that gets layered on top.
The Cunningham Amps Zonk MKI Fuzz — Tim Cunningham's hand-built take on the Hornby Skewes Zonk Machine, a close cousin of the Tone Bender MKI with its own angular, midrange-forward character — is the first stop into genuine vintage fuzz territory, giving the neutral Princeton a raw, gnarly edge.
The Origin Effects Deluxe 55 shows up as a guest — an all-analog recreation of the 1955 Fender 5E3 Tweed Deluxe, deliberately paired with the black panel Princeton rather than a real tweed amp, to see whether the pedal can genuinely pull that tweed character out of a neutral platform rather than just confirming it on an amp that already sounds tweed-ish. Push-pull power amp simulation with reactive load, cathodyne phase inverter recreation, a Preamp switch toggling between 12AY7 and 12AX7 valve character, and a Tone control that adds gain as it's turned up — all built to mimic exactly how the real 5E3 behaves, not just how it sounds.
The Effectrode Tube Vibe closes things out with rich, three-dimensional modulation on top of whatever gain stage came before it.

Solid AA Eastern White Pine, finger-jointed, AA Baltic Birch baffle and rear panels, poplar and pine cleating, stainless steel hardware, signature Decker heavy-duty leather handle.
30 lbs unpackaged. 22"W x 18"H x 10"D.
Designed, manufactured, and assembled 100% by hand in the USA.
Pedals: The R2R Electric Klone, Serial #004, is Chris Vincent's exacting take on the Klon-style transparent overdrive, hand-wired with the same no-compromise NOS component philosophy behind every R2R build. The Cash Boost is Henri Cash's (Starcrawler) signature germanium boost — a collaboration between Henri and Chris Vincent, close friends in the LA music and gear scene — built as a faithful reproduction of a 1960s Dallas Rangemaster circuit.
The Hummingbird 20 aims squarely at the conversation the internet has been having about the Deluxe Reverb being "the best amp ever," and makes the case that THIS might be the real answer.

Benson Amps Benmaster – with Filtertrons! | Feat. Gronlund Guitars SC-18
Germanium fuzz. Germanium boost. A tube-driven Uni-Vibe. And one of the most coveted boutique amps ever made. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
An all-Benson Amps signal chain — the Benson Germanium Fuzz and Germanium Boost, through the Effectrode Tube Vibe, into the Benson Benmaster. The Gronlund Guitars SC18 with TV Jones TV Classic Filter'Trons carries the tone throughout.
The Benmaster is Benson's masterful take on the 5E7 Bandmaster circuit — a 35-watt, 3x10" combo running a pair of 5881 power tubes through a custom Soursound transformer set, housed in a dovetailed pine cabinet with birch ply baffle. Chris Benson describes the 5E7's character as everything the 5F6A Bassman is not — a semi-mythical tweed circuit with a gutsy, pure personality that rewards touch and dynamics at every level of the dial. At 35 watts it has ample clean headroom and takes pedals like a champion. Explored across a genuine gain sweep: cleaner tones from 00:47, amp volume to noon at 03:26, 2 o'clock at 05:37, and fully cranked at 08:20 — with extensive volume knob cleanup and Uni-Vibe from 09:10.
The Benson Germanium Fuzz is built around two matched germanium transistors in the classic 1960s circular fuzz topology, and is the first fuzz pedal with automatic thermal bias technology — staying locked in regardless of temperature. A Class A input buffer feeds a passive pickup simulator circuit, followed by an Impedance control that simulates rolling back the guitar volume for a tight, sparkly response without touching the guitar at all. The circuit spans from clean boost to aggressive fuzz with octave overtones, with Impedance and Gain deeply interactive throughout. Explored from 17:00.
The Benson Germanium Boost uses the same voltage-controlled error correction circuit developed during the Fuzz's design process — a stable germanium clean boost impervious to component drift, leakage, and temperature, with increased input headroom and impedance that keeps the signal full and natural. Notes take on a simultaneously smoother and more detailed character, like a compressor but different. Explored from 14:52.
The Effectrode Tube Vibe's preamp, mixer, and phase-shifter sections run on triode tubes at real amp plate voltages, with a 1MΩ input impedance that keeps single coil pickups open and clear. Dual LFOs: Classic mode for deep, swampy Uni-Vibe throb, Smooth mode for dreamy, ethereal chorus voicings, with a Chorus/Vibrato switch moving between Hendrix-style vibe and detuned pitch-bend vibrato.
Filter'Trons into germanium into tubes into tweed. This is the session.

Which Benson Amp Should I Get? | Monarch vs Earhart vs Vincent vs Redland | Feat. Jules Leyhe
Which Benson Amp should you buy? The question I get every single day — so here's the full shootout, once and for all. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
A complete four-way comparison across the Benson Amps Monarch, Earhart, Vincent, and the brand new Redland 35 — all running through the same Benson Amps 2x12" cab for a true apples-to-apples comparison. The Benson Tall Bird Plus also features. Featuring the Josh Williams Guitars Mockingbird — Tone Specific Bloombuckers, Emerson Custom Treble Bleeds — with the R2R Electric Treble Booster (NOS OC44 Black Glass Germanium) pushing the front end, via the Boss Waza Tube Amp Expander.
Joining for this one is renowned blues guitarist Jules Leyhe — his feel and touch bring out exactly what each of these amps is capable of. Check out his music, live shows, and educational guitar content.
Today is focused exclusively on pushed-to-cranked tones with humbuckers — no clean tones, no hedging, just the comparison everyone actually wants to hear. A quick comparison section up front (02:11) lets you hear the differences immediately, followed by deep dives into each amp across all pickup positions:
Benson Monarch (03:54) — the amp that's anchored the majority of channel demos, Chimera-adjacent clean-to-pushed voicing. Benson Earhart (10:38) — EL84 Class A top boost and tube reverb combo, the brightest and most compressed of the four. Benson Vincent (18:08) — the cascading Vinny/Clean Channel architecture, 1W dirt feeding a 30W clean stage. Benson Redland 35 (26:35) — the newest addition, reimagined EQ stack, extended American clean palette with 6L6 muscle.
If you've been sitting on the fence about which Benson to buy, this is the answer.

Milkman Sound Creamer 20w (with Jupiter 12-LA Speaker) | Humbucker Tones
The Milkman Sound Creamer 20W gets the full pedal-platform treatment — boost, fuzz, vibe, and a Les Paul dialed in for maximum dynamics. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
The Milkman Sound Creamer 20W with a Jupiter 12-LA speaker pairs with the Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul R8 Historic — Ron Ellis LRP Humbuckers, Emerson Custom x Edge of Breakup Prewired Kit with Treble Bleeds. The R2R Electric Ge Distorter Deluxe, R2R Electric Cash Boost, and Effectrode Tube Vibe all feature.
Get the Emerson Custom x Edge of Breakup Les Paul Prewired Kit: https://emersoncustom.com/products/eob-les-paul-prewired-kit-premier-pro?sca_ref=6282128.5O9h8BhMpG
Can a 20-watt tube amp really do it all? The Milkman Creamer 20W is explored here as both a pedal platform and a breakup amp in its own right — touch-responsive cleans from 02:42, through progressive volume increases at noon (06:19) and 3 o'clock (08:53). The Jupiter 12-LA speaker delivers open, articulate low end and complex upper mids that bloom as volume increases — no fizz, no hype, just honest tube tone. The Creamer's tremolo circuit gets its own dedicated exploration at low gain from 18:29, and again engaged from 28:21.
The R2R Electric Ge Distorter Deluxe — built from original vintage AC107 germanium transistors with an external bias control — enters from 21:21 with extensive volume knob cleanup at 22:18 and the Effectrode Tube Vibe joining at 23:40.
The R2R Electric Cash Boost is a collaboration between Chris Vincent and touring guitarist Henri Cash — a faithful reproduction of a 1960s Dallas Rangemaster circuit, identical to the boost built directly into Henri's own touring guitars, A/B'd against that onboard unit to ensure a perfect match to his stage tone. Texas Instruments 2N404A or Mullard ACY19/20 germanium transistors, 1967 CTS 10k pots, Philips 47uF electrolytic caps, vintage West-Cap and Sprague Vitamin Q paper-in-oil input capacitor, 1971-72 Sangamo output capacitor, Allen-Bradley carbon comp resistors. Explored from 29:12, with volume knob cleanup at 31:30 and the Tube Vibe joining at 33:52.
The demo closes by stacking the Ge Distorter Deluxe into the Cash Boost from 35:42 — two distinct R2R Electric germanium circuits run together for maximum harmonic complexity.
Ron Ellis' LRP Humbuckers and the Emerson Custom Treble Bleeds mean every roll of the volume knob actually matters throughout this demo — clean up, dig in, repeat.
Would you run the Creamer clean and pedal-based, or push it straight into breakup? Drop a comment.

Milkman Sound 10w Tweed | with Scumback Speakers S75-PVC
The Milkman Sound 10W Tweed returns with a Scumback S75-PVC speaker swap — and the Reeves Electro May Boost makes its channel debut. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
The Milkman Sound 10W Tweed with a Scumback S75-PVC 12" speaker pairs with the Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul R8 Historic — Ron Ellis LRP Humbuckers, Emerson Custom x Edge of Breakup Prewired Kit with Treble Bleeds. The Reeves Electro May Boost and Effectrode Tube Vibe both feature.

This is one of those rigs that makes you forget about settings and just play. The Scumback S75-PVC speaker swap in the limited-edition Milkman 10W Tweed adds punch, authority, and a chewy midrange that feels instantly familiar for anyone who loves an old tweed pushed to the brink — natural compression and snarl when you lean in, articulate and alive at lower volumes.
Explored across bridge, middle, and neck Ron Ellis LRP positions from 01:13, with extensive volume knob cleanup on the cranked amp from 05:08. Reverb Mix and Dwell combinations explored from 08:28, darker tones from 12:21, and lower gain territory from 13:43. Input 2 gets its own dedicated section from 14:53 — more headroom specifically suited to humbuckers, explored with volume cranked from 19:23.
The Reeves Electro May Boost is Markus Reeves' Brian May-inspired treble booster, built around a Micro Electronics C1016R Red Dot transistor, with a genuinely unusual secret weapon: a built-in input transformer wired as an inductor at the pedal's input. This acts as a pickup simulator, letting other pedals sit in front of the May Boost without destroying the tone, while also adding a specific resonant peak around 900Hz — the frequency behind that classic Queen guitar character. Two voicings via toggle switch: Laser Beam (brighter, explored from 19:59) and Dynamite (darker, explored from 22:36). Volume knob cleanup with the May Boost engaged explored from 21:12, and the Effectrode Tube Vibe joins from 23:25.
This is vintage-inspired tone that breathes, reacts, and rewards restraint — then roars when you stop holding back.

1959 Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3 | Vintage Amp Showcase
A second historic 5E3 joins the channel — a nearly all-original 1959 Fender Tweed Deluxe, still wearing its original tweed six decades later. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
The 1959 Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3 — original tweed, original transformers, vintage Jensen P12R — pairs with the Giordano Guitars Veloce, Sunbear '62 Patent Number Humbuckers. The R2R Electric Preamp Super Deluxe, R2R Electric Si Distorter Deluxe, and Effectrode Tube Vibe all feature.
Between this unit and the 1955 5E3 already on the channel, these are the two most historically significant pieces of gear to ever appear here. Original 5E3s in this condition almost never surface — and when they do, they're rarely documented with high-quality audio, boutique reference instruments, and a genuinely musical approach.
The Sunbear '62 Patent Number Humbuckers in the Giordano Veloce are faithful recreations of early-1960s Gibson Patent Number pickups — the brief transitional era when Gibson swapped from the "Patent Applied For" decal to the Patent Number decal while construction remained PAF-spec. Open top end, complex midrange harmonics, and a slightly firmer low end than late-1950s PAFs. Combined with the all-mahogany Veloce's resonant build and articulate response, the pairing lets the Tweed Deluxe breathe from clean bloom into rich, touch-sensitive overdrive.
The 5E3 has two channels — Instrument and Mic — and this demo covers both in depth: clean tones across all three pickup positions from 02:40, the inverse gain relationship between channels explored from 09:24, and channel jumpering from 14:50 for a genuinely vintage-correct blended tone, revisited from 16:27 through 18:08.
The R2R Electric Si Distorter Deluxe — a hand-wired silicon Fuzz Face circuit built from all NOS period-correct components — enters from 18:31 with extensive volume knob cleanup at 19:39. The R2R Electric Preamp Super Deluxe, Chris Vincent's AC107 germanium recreation of the rare 1950s Höfner Preamp circuit, follows from 22:13. Both R2R pedals get stacked together from 25:00, with the Effectrode Tube Vibe layered throughout for lush, dimensional modulation against the 5E3's natural sag and compression.
If you want to hear vintage tone in its most honest form, this is as close as it gets without standing in the room.

Benson Amps Benmaster | The Tweed Bandmaster 5E7 Reinterpreted by a Modern Master | Guitar Amp Demo
The Benson Amps Benmaster gets its channel debut — a 10-year anniversary tribute to the semi-mythical 5E7 Fender Bandmaster circuit. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
The Benson Amps Benmaster pushes three Weber 10A125A Alnico speakers, paired with the Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul R8 Historic — Ron Ellis LRP Humbuckers, wired with the Emerson Custom x Edge of Breakup Prewired Kit using Premier Pro pots, caps, and treble bleeds. Get the Emerson Custom x Edge of Breakup Les Paul Prewired Kit: https://emersoncustom.com/products/eob-les-paul-prewired-kit-premier-pro?sca_ref=6282128.5O9h8BhMpG
The Benmaster is Benson's idealized interpretation of one of the most misunderstood circuits of the tweed era — the 5E7 Fender Bandmaster. Compared to the cleaner, more direct 5F6A Bassman, the 5E7's inefficient power supply, unconventional phase inverter, and loose feel combine to create something completely different: a compressed, greasy bark with a glowing halo around every note. Alive, vocal, and unapologetically rock and roll — the flaws on paper are exactly what give it its voice.
Full specs: 35 watts. 2x 5881 power tubes. 2x 12AX7 preamp tubes. 1x 5AR4 rectifier. Three Weber 10A125A Alnico speakers, lightly doped for the perfect balance of punch, swirl, and compression. Custom Soursound transformer set. Dovetailed pine cabinet with a birch ply baffle. Controls: Volume, Treble, Bass, Presence — classic and purposeful, no more knobs than the circuit needs.
Explored across the demo: lower gain settings from 02:37 with volume knob cleanup at 03:52, Bass knob sweep from 05:22, progressive gain increases through noon (06:58), 3 o'clock (08:53), and fully cranked (09:35), then dropped to the lowest possible gain at 09:50. Treble and Presence explored from 10:26.
Ron Ellis' '50s LRP Humbuckers — a replica of the exact PAFs found in Duane Allman's 1957 Goldtop — give the Benmaster's compressed, greasy voice a genuinely vintage-correct foundation, with the Emerson Custom Premier Pro pots and Treble Bleeds keeping the volume knob cleanup effortless throughout.
The Expresso FX Ge Boost Mini — built around an NOS Philips OC141 germanium transistor — enters from 11:17, adding warmth, compression, and harmonic density without masking the Benmaster's character. Volume brought back to noon at 14:12, with the Effectrode Tube Vibe joining from 16:35 for rich, psychedelic modulation that stacks beautifully with this circuit.
If you're into boutique amps, expressive Les Paul rigs, and deep tone exploration, this is a historically important amp done right.

The Milkman 10W Tweed is a choke-filtered Class A amplifier — part of a limited edition run of just 12 units painstakingly built by Tim Marcus. Tube spring reverb with a 17" tank mounted in the cabinet, controlled by two knobs: Dwell (decay time) and Blend, explored across wetter settings from 10:29. Custom Mercury Magnetics transformers, Jupiter signal caps and electrolytics, mirror-polish chrome faceplate, solid pine cabinet with lacquered tweed finish — components chosen with zero compromise for this limited edition build. Genuinely touch sensitive and responsive, ideal for recording or small stages where low wattage delivers real dynamics.
Ron Ellis' '50s LRP Humbuckers — a replica of the exact PAFs found in Duane Allman's 1957 Goldtop — give this small Class A tweed circuit plenty of harmonic content to work with. Explored across bridge, middle, and neck positions from 00:33, with volume knob cleanup from 05:14 and lower gain amp settings explored from 06:22. Darker tone settings explored from 13:15 before slowly opening the tone knob back up while the amp stays cranked.
The Expresso FX Germanium Boost Mini — built around an NOS Philips OC141 germanium transistor — enters from 15:50, a compact Rangemaster-style boost with a creamy, well-balanced character. Explored with increasing reverb mix at higher gain from 18:54, and extensive volume knob cleanup from 19:46. The Effectrode Tube Vibe joins from 22:25, stacking with the Ge Boost Mini for a rich three-dimensional texture, with the Tube Vibe's own boost cranked to push the amp even harder from 24:49.

Benson Amps Redland 35 | Guitar Amp Demo
Benson Amps' new Redland 35 head gets its channel debut, paired with the Tall Bird+ and a 2x12" cabinet — a fresh angle on classic American cleans from the boutique builder known for touch-sensitive dynamics. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
The Benson Amps Redland 35 Head, Benson Tall Bird+ Reverb & Tremolo, and Benson 2x12" Cabinet with Scumback H75-PVC speakers pair with the Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul R8 Historic — Ron Ellis LRP Humbuckers, Emerson Custom x Edge of Breakup Prewired Kit with Premier Pro pots, caps, and treble bleeds. Get the Emerson Custom x Edge of Breakup Les Paul Prewired Kit: https://emersoncustom.com/products/eob-les-paul-prewired-kit-premier-pro?sca_ref=6282128.5O9h8BhMpG
The Redland 35 is Benson's new take on the extended American clean palette — inspired by sounds as varied as Dumble and Peavey rather than the West Coast voicing Benson is best known for. 12AX7 preamp, 6L6 power section, variable output from 1 to 35 watts via power scaling. What makes the Redland genuinely different is the completely reimagined tone stack. Bass moves a sizable scoop up and down the frequency spectrum, starting at 100Hz and ending around 1kHz — cutting bass at the lowest point and edging into the treble at the highest. Treble is a rolloff, but at a much steeper 12dB/octave slope rather than the typical 6dB/octave found in most guitar amps, with EQ points selected specifically for guitar. A small amount of global negative feedback slows the response envelope for extra fatness in feel and response. Explored in the scooped EQ capability from 12:51, and the darker tone knob exploration from 34:53.
Ron Ellis' '50s LRP Humbuckers — a replica of the exact PAFs found in Duane Allman's 1957 Goldtop — give the Redland's clean-forward voicing a genuinely vintage-correct foundation, with the Emerson Custom Premier Pro pots and Treble Bleeds keeping full clarity through the volume knob sweep, explored from 06:59.
The Benson Tall Bird+ contributes both Optical Harmonic Tremolo (explored from 09:30 and again at 49:25) and Optical Amplitude Tremolo (explored from 27:33) — giving the Redland's clean American voicing a distinctly different modulation character depending on mode.
The R2R Electric Preamp Super Deluxe — Chris Vincent's Höfner-inspired NOS AC107 germanium preamp — enters repeatedly throughout the demo across multiple gain settings, from 19:29 through 53:51, showing how it interacts with the Redland's gain range from low (31:42) through medium (24:17) and fully cranked. The power scaling drops all the way to 1 watt from 42:45 for huge power amp distortion at bedroom volume.
More Benson, more fuzz, more vintage-leaning tones are on the way — drop a comment with what you want to see next.

Milkman Sound Creamer 20w (with Fane Ascension A60 Speaker) | Humbucker Tones
The Milkman Sound Creamer 20W and Fane Ascension A60 rig returns — this time with the Giordano Guitars Tributo Korina Special and its Sunbear '58 Reserve PAFs. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
The Giordano Guitars Tributo Korina Special — Sunbear '58 Reserve SB-PAF Humbuckers, Emerson Custom Treble Bleeds — pairs with the Milkman Sound Creamer 20W into a Fane Ascension A60 1x12" speaker. The JAM Pedals Rattler LTD and Effectrode Tube Vibe both feature.
The Sunbear '58 Reserve (now '58 Archive) SB-PAF set is Stuart Robson's tribute to guitarist Bob Wootton's original 1958 Burst — Bridge Alnico II (~8.1K), Neck Alnico III (~7.4K). Rich mids, airy highs, rounded lows that respond dynamically to playing feel, with all the bloom, width, and upper-mid complexity of a genuinely great late-1950s PAF set. Explored across clean tones from 00:47 through all three positions, showing exactly how the Creamer responds to touch and pick attack before any drive enters the chain.
The JAM Pedals Rattler LTD is built around an extremely rare NOS LM308AH can-version chip — the same chip family that powers JAM's tribute to the classic ProCo RAT circuit, here in point-to-point wiring housed in a leather-covered enclosure. Carbon-comp resistors and tropical fish capacitors for authentic vintage distortion character with modern clarity. Symmetrical clipping gives a smoother, less grinding voice than the standard Rattler, with a toggle switch that activates a lower-gain stage for a more open, less compressed, harmonically rich overdrive character. Explored into the clean Creamer from 04:03, with volume knob cleanup from 07:15, and slamming a cranked Creamer from 18:40.
The Milkman Creamer 20W's tremolo circuit gets its own dedicated section from 11:55 — harmonically rich, deep, with a genuinely wide useful speed range that sets it apart from a typical amp tremolo. The Effectrode Tube Vibe joins from 16:36, stacking with the Rattler LTD from 20:36 for a rich, swirling texture into the cranked Creamer.

Vinny Reverb Combo | Benson Amps | Guitar Amp Demo
The Benson Amps Vinny Reverb Combo gets a deep dive — a small amp famous for punching well above its size, with a Celestion Greenback in a 1x10" format. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
The Benson Amps Vinny Reverb Combo with Celestion Greenback 1x10" speaker pairs with the Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul R8 Historic — Ron Ellis '50s LRP Humbuckers, wired with the Emerson Custom x Edge of Breakup Les Paul Prewired Kit using Emerson Premier Pro pots, caps, and treble bleeds. The Expresso FX Germanium Boost and Effectrode Tube Vibe both feature.
Get the Emerson Custom x Edge of Breakup Les Paul Prewired Kit: https://emersoncustom.com/products/eob-les-paul-prewired-kit-premier-pro?sca_ref=6282128.5O9h8BhMpG
The Vinny Reverb Combo is Benson's compact single-channel reverb amp — the same Vinny gain circuit found feeding into the Vincent's cascading architecture, here as its own dedicated small combo. Loaded with a Celestion Greenback in a 1x10" cabinet, delivering punchy midrange, chewy breakup, and a studio-focused tone that sounds far bigger than the physical footprint suggests.
Power scaling is a key feature of this amp — explored throughout the demo from full power at 00:21, scaled down to increase gain at natural volumes from 04:48, and pushed to the lowest power and volume setting from 15:56, with the in-between range explored from 17:12. This lets the Vinny's characteristic sag and harmonics come through at any practical volume level.
Ron Ellis' '50s LRP Humbuckers — a replica of the exact PAFs found in Duane Allman's 1957 Goldtop, originally developed for the 2012 Gibson Lee Roy Parnell Signature Les Paul — bring genuine 1950s PAF character and clarity. The Emerson Premier Pro pots and Treble Bleeds keep that clarity fully intact across the entire volume sweep, explored extensively from 08:10 and again from 16:27 and 23:02.
The Expresso FX Germanium Boost enters from 07:14, slamming the Vinny for a glassy, vintage-correct push, and returns later feeding into a clean-set Vinny from 14:07 for a completely different character. The Effectrode Tube Vibe joins from 06:20, and stacks with the Ge Boost from 21:27 for a rich, three-dimensional lead texture.
Should the Vinny get demoed with other speakers next? What pickup set should pair with it? Drop your thoughts in the comments.

1955 Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3 | Vintage Amp Showcase
Something historically special today — a nearly all-original 1955 Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3, one of the most iconic circuits in guitar history, still wearing its original tweed at 70 years old. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
The 1955 Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3 — original tweed, original transformers, vintage Jensen P12R — pairs with the Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul R8 Historic, Ron Ellis '50s LRP PAF Humbuckers, wired with the Emerson Custom x Edge of Breakup Les Paul Prewired Kit. The R2R Electric Preamp Super Deluxe and Effectrode Tube Vibe both feature.
Get the Emerson Custom x Edge of Breakup Les Paul Prewired Kit: https://linktw.in/rpeBSM
Original 5E3s in this condition almost never surface — and rarer still is one captured with high-quality audio, boutique guitars, and reference-grade microphones. This is the most historically significant piece of gear to appear on this channel: a genuinely untouched 1955 circuit, cathode-biased 6V6 power stage, original Jensen P12R speaker delivering the woody, blooming midrange that shaped countless classic records.
Ron Ellis' '50s LRP set — the replica pickup originally developed for the 2012 Gibson Lee Roy Parnell Signature Les Paul, modeled on the exact PAFs found in Duane Allman's 1957 Goldtop — gives this demo the harmonic bloom, air, and vocal midrange of real late-1950s humbuckers, matching the amp's own era. The Emerson Custom x Edge of Breakup wiring keeps the guitar's clarity and articulation intact even as the amp saturates.
The 5E3 has two channels — Instrument and Mic — and this demo covers both extensively, including jumpering them together for a genuinely vintage-correct blended tone (explored from 22:05 through 24:39). Both channels cranked and blended around 3 o'clock is identified as the sweet spot at 31:46.
The R2R Electric Preamp Super Deluxe — Chris Vincent's recreation of the rare 1950s Höfner Preamp circuit with NOS germanium AC107 transistors — pushes the front end like a vintage studio boost, explored from 25:27 with extensive volume knob cleanup at 27:09. The Effectrode Tube Vibe adds three-dimensional modulation against the amp's natural sag and compression from 28:13.
If you want to hear vintage tone in its most authentic form, this is about as close as you'll get without standing in the room with it.

Benson The Amp by Milkman Sound
A landmark collaboration makes its channel debut — Benson The Amp by Milkman Sound, putting Chris Benson's signature preamp into a grab-and-go pedal amp format. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
Benson The Amp by Milkman Sound pairs with the BilT Guitars S.S. Zaftig DK Ultra — Lollar La Prima Mini-Humbuckers, Emerson Custom Treble Bleed — into a Benson 1x12" cabinet with a Scumback H75-PVC speaker. The Benson Stonk Box and Effectrode Tube Vibe both feature.
In Tim Marcus's own words:
"This collaboration between Milkman Sound and Benson Amps has been years in the making. We are so excited to present Benson The Amp which places the signature preamp from Chris' Chimera and Monarch amplifier models into a grab and go format.
Similar to other models of The Amp, Benson The Amp can both drive a speaker cabinet and route instrument signals to a variety of direct outputs including a balanced XLR output with switchable cab sim and the powerful internal headphone amplifier.
Besides the Benson designed tube preamp, the cab sim has also been voiced by Chris Benson to sound nearly identical to his ceramic speakers. We added a Room control to simulate early reflections that you would get when playing a guitar amplifier in a room. Stunning clean tones, saturated edge of breakup tones and all out tube amp overdrive can all be attained inside the box with simple adjustments of the top panel controls or by turning on the internal boost."
Wattage: 50W at 16 ohm, 100W at 8 ohm, 200W at 4 ohm. Two footswitches: Reverb (on/off) and Boost (internal 24dB boost for extra midrange and drive). Dimensions: 8.5" W x 3" H x 6.5" D, weighing just 2.5 lbs.
The demo covers exceptional ground: clean tones across all three La Prima positions from 00:47, EQ extremes from 04:31 through 06:58 (scooped, bass-forward, and mid-forward voicings), reverb and room simulation settings from 08:05 through 09:07, and progressive gain increases through fully cranked from 10:21 to 13:18.
The Benson Stonk Box enters from 17:27 slamming the cranked Benson Amp, with the internal Boost channel engaged from 23:37 (Stonk Box bypassed) for the 24dB internal boost circuit's own character. The Effectrode Tube Vibe joins from 27:32, with volume knob cleanup explored at 28:22 and the Tube Vibe's own boost cranked to slam the amp even further from 29:37. The demo closes with the Stonk Box, Tube Vibe, and boosted Benson The Amp all stacked together from 32:53.
The BilT Guitars S.S. Zaftig DK Ultra's chambered old-growth pine body and Lollar La Prima Mini-Humbuckers give Benson The Amp's touch-responsive preamp exactly the kind of open, articulate input it thrives on.

Milkman Sound Creamer 20W | Guitar Amp Demo
The Milkman Sound Creamer 20W gets a deep dive — Tim Marcus's boutique refinement of the vintage small-format tube amp, paired with a Fane Ascension A60 Alnico speaker. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
The Milkman Sound Creamer 20W — with a Fane Ascension A60 1x12" Alnico speaker — pairs with the Wide Sky Guitars P125C Cutaway with Curtis Novak P90 pickups, Emerson Custom pots, caps, and treble bleeds. The Reeves Electro Leo Tweed Overdrive and Effectrode Tube Vibe both feature.
Tim Marcus hand-builds Milkman Sound amplifiers in San Francisco. The Creamer is his refined alternative to the vintage small-format tube amp — cathode biased, delivering about 20 watts into 8 ohms with a stock pair of 6V6 tubes for sweet breakup, with a rear-panel switch allowing 6L6 tubes to be substituted with no rebias required, for more low end, subtler mids, and additional headroom. An internal bias adjustment allows fine-tuning for vintage tube variance. Hand-wired on a turret board with cloth-covered wire — no shortcuts anywhere in the build.
The tremolo circuit is a genuine standout — harmonically rich, deep, with a useful range of speed that goes well beyond a typical amp tremolo. Explored extensively from 05:45 through 09:11, and revisited at higher gain settings from 14:17.
The Fane Ascension A60 Alnico speaker pairs with the Creamer's cathode-biased breakup character to deliver the touch-responsive cleans and blooming overdrive the demo showcases across clean tones from 00:52, through increasing amp volume and gain settings from 09:11 through 17:55, with extensive volume knob cleanup explored throughout.
The Reeves Electro Leo is a Tweed-voiced overdrive with boost — a 1979 blue-face Motorola 2N3904 silicon transistor paired with Hughes 5008 germanium diodes for a smooth, natural breakup character. Bufferless design, so it works like a Fuzz Face in terms of guitar volume interaction and preferring to sit first in the chain. Three internal voicing options reference the gain structure of a 5W Champ, 12W Deluxe, or 40W Twin. Slamming the cranked Creamer from 19:47, with the amp's own volume progressively lowered for more headroom to push the Leo's drive and boost sections harder from 23:41 and 26:23. The Effectrode Tube Vibe joins from 28:24 for a final Uni-Vibe pass with volume knob cleanup.

Vintage 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb + Semi-Hollow Tones! | Fuzz Face, Tubescreamer & Scumback Swap
The vintage 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb returns — this time paired with the Josh Williams Guitars Mockingbird and its Tone Specific Bloombuckers. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
The Josh Williams Guitars Mockingbird — Tone Specific Bloombucker Humbuckers — pairs with a vintage 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb with a Scumback S75-PVC speaker upgrade (8 ohm, 65W) while keeping the Vibrato Channel 1 bright cap intact. The JAM Pedals Black Fuzz Phrase LTD (OC44) and Greer Amps Southland Overdrive both feature, with Effectrode Tube Vibe.
The 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb needs no introduction — one of the most recorded and revered tube amps in history, its blackface circuit defining the clean-to-breakup sweet spot that shaped decades of recorded guitar tone. This unit has had a thoughtful speaker upgrade to a Scumback S75-PVC while keeping the bright cap intact on Vibrato Channel 1, preserving the vintage-accurate sparkle and breakup character while gaining the Scumback's more even response and higher power handling.
The Josh Williams Guitars Mockingbird's pressed maple semi-hollow construction and Tone Specific Bloombucker PAF-voiced humbuckers give the Deluxe Reverb a genuinely different starting point than a solid body or single coil guitar would — explored across clean tones from 02:14, through the amp pushed to 6 from 03:10, and fully cranked at 10 from 04:32.
The Greer Amps Southland Harmonic Overdrive is built on the Lightspeed Organic Overdrive platform but pushed further — more gain, dual-stage clipping using different diode types at each stage, a focused midrange without the typical overdrive hump, and extended presence to help cut through a mix. Explored slamming the amp from 06:38, with the amp's own volume backed off for more headroom.
The JAM Pedals Black Fuzz Phrase LTD is built around an ultra-rare stash of NOS OC44 Philips black glass germanium transistors manufactured in 1969, individually tested and matched by ear — a genuine collector's piece from a run of roughly 100 units. Explored from 08:01, with volume knob cleanup from 08:46 showing the Bloombuckers' PAF-style bloom and dynamic response through the Fuzz Face-style circuit.

Nick Greer builds in Athens, Georgia. The Thunderbolt30 is Greer Amps' best-selling head — 30 watts blending AC-type, JTM-type, and Matchless-type circuit character into one coherent voice. Two EL34 power tubes, cathode biased, Class A. Two 12AX7 preamp tubes. 5AR4 rectifier. Custom Mercury Magnetics output transformer. Hand-wired throughout. Gen2 brings a new logo and small circuit refinements from Nick.
Paired here with the Greer Smallblock 1x12" — a compact extension cabinet that punches far above its size, giving the Thunderbolt30 a genuinely gig-ready footprint without sacrificing the amp's full tonal range.
Explored across the demo: the core amp tones from 02:16, modulation and Univibe textures from 06:35, volume knob cleanup from 09:45, the interaction of cranked Volume with a lower Master setting from 12:00 (maximizing gain while keeping output manageable), clean tones from 16:50 with modulation layered in from 18:30, and everything fully cranked from 19:25.
The TV Jones TV Classic Filter'Trons in the Gronlund SC18 give the Thunderbolt30's blended British/American voicing plenty of clarity and chime to work with, particularly noticeable in the clean and lightly modulated sections.

The Mini Chief is Greer Amps' answer to requests for a genuinely small format amplifier that still works at home, in the studio, or at small gigs. 3 watts, Class A, cathode biased. A single 12AX7 preamp tube and single EL84 power tube — the classic small-wattage British/American hybrid recipe, tonal range sitting between small Vox-style amps and bigger Marshall-style ones. Mercury Magnetics or Heyboer transformers, hand-wired on terminal strips. 4, 8, and 16 ohm speaker outputs — unusual flexibility for an amp this small. Housed in a simple pine head cabinet with a milk paint finish and nitrocellulose topcoat. The preamp tube can be swapped for a 12AT7 for lower gain or a 12AU7 for maximum clean headroom.
Despite its 3-watt rating, the Mini Chief does not get grainy or stringy the way many sub-5-watt amps do at higher gain — it gets genuinely angry and raucous, with real touch sensitivity from clean to crunch on the volume knob alone. Explored throughout this demo from cranked Volume and Tone at 02:41, through volume knob cleanup at 05:42, and across the full gain range down to low-gain bright tones at 15:48.
The Gronlund Guitars SC18's TV Jones TV Classic Filter'Trons give the Mini Chief plenty of clarity and chime to work with — the semi-hollow Honduran mahogany body's acoustic resonance pairs naturally with a small Class A amp's dynamic response.

This Amp is Still Surprising Me | Benson Amps Vincent
Benson Amps returns to the channel with a full dedicated showcase of the Vincent head — 30 watts of cascading Vinny into Chimera/Monarch-esque clean channel magic. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
In this episode the Benson Amps Vincent head and Benson 2x12" cabinet take center stage — featuring the BilT Guitars DK Ultra S.S. Zaftig with Lollar La Prima Mini-Humbuckers and Emerson Custom Treble Bleed, into Scumback H75-PVC speakers via the Boss Waza Tube Amp Expander. The Benson Amps Preamp and Germanium Fuzz feature from 10:17 onward.
Benson Amps: https://www.bensonamps.com/guitar-amplifiers
The Benson Amps Vincent is a 30-watt channel-switching amplifier with a genuinely unique architecture: it cascades a 1-watt Vinny Dirt Channel into a 30-watt Chimera/Monarch-esque Clean Channel. The Vinny Dirt Channel is the pre-gain stage — a warm, harmonically rich 1-watt gain circuit that feeds directly into the front end of the 30-watt Clean Channel. The result is an amp that produces a Monarch-style clean tone at its foundation but can be driven by the Vinny circuit for pushed and cranked tones that feel organic and amp-driven rather than pedal-driven. The only Benson amp with an onboard effects loop — tube powered, placed post-Vinny and pre-Clean Channel power amp gain.
Three core tonal zones explored in this demo: the clean channel alone from 03:53 — wide, open, and detailed; the clean channel pushed with the Benson Preamp pedal as the gain source from 10:17; and the fully cranked clean channel boosted first by the Benson Preamp and then by the Benson Germanium Fuzz from 20:51. The Vinny Dirt Channel activated at 25:40 in Low Gain mode and 28:50 in High Gain mode, boosting the already-cranked Clean Channel from below.
Two-band EQ. Tube powered effects loop. Boss Waza Tube Amp Expander used here for light attenuation with reverb duties added post-Vincent pre-and-power-amp gain, pre-speaker cab.
