The Milkman 10W Tweed is a choke-filtered Class A amplifier — part of a limited edition run of just 12 units painstakingly built by Tim Marcus. Tube spring reverb with a 17" tank mounted in the cabinet, controlled by two knobs: Dwell (decay time) and Blend, explored across wetter settings from 10:29. Custom Mercury Magnetics transformers, Jupiter signal caps and electrolytics, mirror-polish chrome faceplate, solid pine cabinet with lacquered tweed finish — components chosen with zero compromise for this limited edition build. Genuinely touch sensitive and responsive, ideal for recording or small stages where low wattage delivers real dynamics.
Ron Ellis' '50s LRP Humbuckers — a replica of the exact PAFs found in Duane Allman's 1957 Goldtop — give this small Class A tweed circuit plenty of harmonic content to work with. Explored across bridge, middle, and neck positions from 00:33, with volume knob cleanup from 05:14 and lower gain amp settings explored from 06:22. Darker tone settings explored from 13:15 before slowly opening the tone knob back up while the amp stays cranked.
The Expresso FX Germanium Boost Mini — built around an NOS Philips OC141 germanium transistor — enters from 15:50, a compact Rangemaster-style boost with a creamy, well-balanced character. Explored with increasing reverb mix at higher gain from 18:54, and extensive volume knob cleanup from 19:46. The Effectrode Tube Vibe joins from 22:25, stacking with the Ge Boost Mini for a rich three-dimensional texture, with the Tube Vibe's own boost cranked to push the amp even harder from 24:49.
