Boss RE-2 Space Echo
Let's jump into the Boss RE-2 Space Echo guitar pedal demo! Today, we are checking this pedal out with the built-in classic preamp emulation OFF. To hear the pedal with the preamp emulation on, check out my other demo here: https://youtu.be/DYWpMujA_U8 @BOSSchannel released two new versions of the Space Echo recently, and you'd be forgiven for looking (and lusting) directly at the larger of the two models, the RE-202 initially. However - I must say that the Boss Space Echo RE-2, the little brother to the RE-202 is quite the contender despite its unassuming pedalboard friendly size. Don't be fooled by the four knob layout, upon inspection, secondary inset knobs offer double the control parameters, not to mention mono or stereo I/O, tap tempo or tap/exp jack, preamp on/off, and 11 delay modes, many of which with the vaunted Space Echo reverb from the original RE-201 unit. The simplicity of the RE-2 is striking, while still giving you deep access to all the sounds the Space Echo is known for. Not to worry, I've got one more demo coming for the RE-2 with the preamp disabled, as well as a full demo for the big brother of this pedal, the RE-202. In this demo, I am featuring the RE-2 with my @prismaguitars Sunset with @LollarPickups Gold Foils and @masterybridge and Trem, into my @BensonAmps Vincent with 2x12 cab. I am using the @BOSSinfoglobal Waza Tube Amp Expander just to slightly take the edge off the very loud Benson Vincent 20W head, and I have the cabinet mic'd with Royer r121 and SM57 on the front grille, and an R10 on the room. All of that is run through a @UniversalAudio Apollo x4 and mixed in @Ableton Live 11. 00:00 Demo Begins with Echo Mode 9 01:16 Echo Mode 1 01:34 Tap Tempo Demonstration 03:50 Echo Mode 2 05:54 Echo Mode 3 06:58 Echo Mode 4 07:49 Benson Vincent Dirt Channel ON 09:09 Echo Mode 5 + Self-Oscillation 10:40 Echo Mode 6 12:09 Echo Mode 7 15:00 Echo Mode 8 19:43 Echo Mode 9 20:50 Echo Mode 10 24:40 Runaway self-oscillation and tweaking of repeat rate! #bosspedals #geardemo #edgeofbreakup #spaceecho #bosseffects #rolandspaceecho #re201 #bossspaceecho #delaypedal #reverbpedal #modulationpedal #guitarpedals #guitarpedal #prismaguitars #lollarpickups
Thorpy FX Scarlet Tunic
Here we are, back with another Thorpy FX Guitar Pedal Demo! Thorpy has done it - an analog vintage amp emulation platform! This stunning pedal centers around amp-like gain and dynamic of a Selmer Treble & Bass 50 - but the ultra powerful Presence knob let's you dial in Hi-Watt DR103 tones at full counter-clockwise, all the way to Vox AC30 tones at full clockwise! The Selmer tones live at noon. 00:00 Intro 01:04 Demo Begins, Gibson SG + Lambertones Crema Humbuckers (Presence maxed, AC30 tones) 03:06 Pushing Treble on AC30 TONES 03:52 Dropping Presence to Noon for Selmer Treble and Bass 50 tones, Middle Pickup Position on SG (Lambertones) 04:34 Neck Pickup 05:12 Reducing gain to noon, compensating with volume. Insanely articulate cleans. 05:40 Presence to 9 o clock, this is Hi-Watt tone territory. Increasing Treble and Bass 06:19 Looking closer at dynamics on the edge 06:34 Sensitivity Switch to Middle 07:11 Sens switch up 07:21 Sens switch down (my fave) 07:32 Presence back to noon for Selmer Amp tones 08:03 Bridge Pickup, maxing out gain 08:59 Bright Switch to Middle, and dropping presence toward hi-watt 09:54 Bright switch to top 10:08 Exploring Deep Switch, Presence to Noon/Selmer 10:50 Cranking presence for that AC30 thing! 11:30 Presence to noon 11:40 Volume knob clean up (treble bleed in SG) 12:04 Some of the best tone I've ever heard! 12:24 Getting Towards Glassy Fuzz Characteristics 13:36 Singing sustain and beautiful overtones 14:28 Revisiting bridge, oh man! Tons of EQ shaping on board via both switches and knobs, and the entire span of the gain and level played so well with my newly acquired @Benson Amps Monarch with NOS Tung Sol glass, into the @BOSSchannel Waza Tube Amp Expander so some light attentuation, and I even ran the Benson Tall Bird tube reverb into the Boss Waza Effects Loop! Also, I am using my brand new @Lambertones Pickups Crema Humbuckers in their debut demo, and holy WOW do they sound great clean or with gain, from neck to bridge. These might just be my fave hums ever, and they have that extra sparkle and clarity while still doing that humbucker thing! Chase Bliss Habit
Today is a very special day, we are diving deep into a Chase Bliss Habit Guitar Pedal Demo. I can confidently say this: the Chase Bliss Habit is the deepest delay you'll ever play. Habit is a pedal that you get to know over time. It's a delay pedal, but it brings in sampling techniques as well as plenty of ways to revive sounds you played even a couple minutes ago back in a new context, and you can tweak all of it with Blooper-esque modifiers. It took me a couple sessions to learn to ride Habit, without getting bucked off. I wanted to share an extended jam in which you see Habit manipulate what I am feeding it, and then I take that in, and adjust to build a composition, and repeat. Through the process, I lean into the modifers in all banks, the "infinite hold and tweak knobs" method, and more. This pedal is an experience. Thanks Chase Bliss Audio for sending this out for me to create with. 00:00 Intro 04:13 Demo Begins, Modifiers Off 06:29 Adding Spread 06:50 Adding Modifier A - Stepped Speed 08:00 Bringing in Scan Knob 12:05 Stability (Mod B) as a Detuned Tape Delay 15:25 Trimmer (Mod A3) 19:20 Sample and Hold (and Tweak) 21:36 My favorite part of the whole demo (where I almost write a Thom Yorke song) 22:00 Mod B1 Smooth Speed 28:30 Mod B2 Filter 29:35 Sample, Hold, Tweak with Filter Mod 31:55 Mod B3 Dropper #chaseblissaudio #chasebliss #edgeofbreakup #geardemos #guitarpedals #delaypedal #delaypedals #sampler #sounddesign #experimentalsound #resample #djtools #dj #producer #musicstudio
The Best Guitar Tone I've Ever Had - R2R Electric - R2Rgemaster
So, what's the best guitar tone I've ever had? Well, it came in the mail the other day. And I didn't even buy it... yet. R2R Electric is operated out of Los Angeles, by instagram's own Chris Vincent, aka@Djlavalamp. He is a maven of NOS parts reclaimed from '50s/'60s electronics, which then get placed into some of the most incredible fuzz and treble booster pedals you can possibly imagine. Recently, he hit a big milestone - 1000 R2Rgemaster Treble Boosters built! My friend Mark (@ filmotone on Instagram) bought number 1000, and he was just the coolest guy in the universe and asked Chris to ship it to me first! So of course, I had been drooling over R2R Electric for days and had never played one, so you know I was down! ...and once I got it I was floored. Like, I couldn't even believe how scrapey yet organic it was... what a big bite / attack it had, and yet the soft, gushy underbelly in the low mids is there when you dig in. It cleans up amazingly like a beautiful vintage fuzz. It turns like a dime with your guitar volume knob and pickup selections. Quick Links 00:00 Clean Tone via Benson Monarch 00:16 Demo Begins, Switch Position 1: 1964 SRC Dallas Rangemaster 05:24 Switch Position 2: 1962 Hunts Modern Rangemaster 09:17 Switch Position 3: 1964 Hunts Aged Rangemaster 13:00 Switch Position 4: 1964 Hunts Modified Rangemaster 17:06 Switch Position 5: 1966 Aerovox Mods Booster 20:33 Switch Position 6: 1962 Erie Full Range Boost Today I am playing this right through the front of my just acquired @Benson Amps Monarch with NOS Tung Sol Tubes, and running that head into the @BOSSchannel Waza Tube Amp Expander just to take the edge off the level, and I am using the effects loop to run the @Benson Amps Tall Bird through for some killer Tube Reverb. All of that is going through my @Benson Amps Vincent 2x12" cabinet. The grille is mic'd with Royer R121 and Shure SM57, and the back of the amp is mic'd with a Royer R10. Cunningham Amps ZONK MKI Fuzz — Lost in Crystal Canyons
Incredibly limited, equipped with perfectly matched NOS germanium parts, highly sought after, and packing two vintage circuits - a Tone Bender and Zonk Machine in one?! This is the Zonk | MKI by Lost in Crystal Canyons X Cunningham Amps, and it is one of the hottest collaborations this year in the pedal building world. Make sure to follow Robert and Tim for your chance to get one of the very limited drops, which are in the single digits in terms of units per release. https://www.instagram.com/lostincrystalcanyons/ https://www.instagram.com/cunninghamamps/ Robert Hart, guitar and gear lifestyle photographer extraordinaire teamed up with his close friend Tim Cunningham of Cunningham Amps to create this rare recreation (and really, re-imagination) of the two famous vintage circuits in one house. And what a house it is - Robert has brought his stylistic minimalist, classic rock period signature to the design of the solid steel enclosure, NOS knobs, high quality switches, and retro colors. Tim brings the incredible circuits and guts that make this box reach into your very being and make you want to hear all the songs you know through this ZONK | MKI. The pedal comes with a switch to kill the battery circuit so you can leave it wired to your pedalboard without fear of accidentally killing the battery or having to rewire constantly. The second switch is to toggle between the left position with the Zonk Machine and the right position with the Tone Bender MKI. The two knobs adjust overall level (right) and fuzz gain (left), and they are extremely interactive and full of many zones of amazing tonal colors. The pedal cleans up extraordinarily well and is very reactive to pickup selection. Today I am showcasing it with my amazing Frank Brothers Arcade goldtop with Lollar '50s Wind P90s, Bigsby and Emerson Treble bleed into the incredible Benson Amps Vincent. Reverb is provided by the Boss Waza Tube Amp Expander, and the cab is mic'd with a Royer R121 and Shure Sm57 on the cab, and a Royer R10 on the room/back of cab. Chase Bliss Gravitas Tremolo
Well, the Chase Bliss Gravitas Analog Tremolo was just end of life'd and I'm so stoked to bring you all the tones... this one is def worth tracking down from dealers who may still have it, or on the used market. The Chase Bliss Gravitas brings an amazing preamp and analog amplitude tremolo, and lets you adjust the tone, waveform sway on the front or back of the wave, the depth and rate - but wait - you can use the signature Chase Bliss dipswitches on the top face of the pedal to bounce any of those parameters to the speed indicated by the Ramp knob. This means you can oscillate the Tone knob to create a harmonic tremolo effect standalone by turning the depth to 0 to kill the amplitude trem, but of course you can combine the amplitude trem WITH the harmonic trem at different rates!! This is such a gamechanger. I loved getting ducking / reverse guitar type effects by playing with my attack in sync with square/sine waveforms, and the chewy amazing texture pushed my Benson Vincent in amazing ways. Horrothia Effects Berkeley Uni-Vibe
Looking for a vintage uni-vibe + modern features? Man, do I have great news for you! The Horrothia Effects Berkeley features an almost exactly identical signal path as the original vintage uni-vibe units. Buy one here: https://reverb.com/uk/item/47775078-horrothia-berkeley-vibe In the words of the creator, Tom Oakes: "Carbon film resistors, Mylar caps, transistors... Some small key changes have been made in line with mods that were done in the late 60’s to open up the low-end and add more liquid movement. There are 4 photocells, but no bulb. Hand chosen Vactrols are matched one by one in a custom test fixture to make sure that every component works within a well defined ‘sweet spot’ range. No guessing here." The Berkeley offers a pedalboard-friendly size and form factor, beautiful design and typography (unlike nearly all Uni-Vibes - yes, design matters), expression control, a killer boost circuit with Level knob, controls for Intensity and Rate, classic Chorus or Vibrato modes, takes 9v power from a standard pedal power supply with no weird adapters. Beyond the knobs on the face of the pedal, you can also open up the bottom of the enclosure and adjust three different trim pots for phase notch depth, impedance, and voicing to craft the perfect univibe sound for your rig! Jam Pedals Delay Llama Xtreme
Jam Pedals has done it - they've made the perfect analog delay. No, seriously. Quick jump to parts of the video: 00:00 Intro 01:35 Analog Delay Mode, Benson Clean Channel 05:07 Vibrato Xtreme Mode 07:17 Tape-Age Xtreme Mode 08:58 Xtreme Modes off, Rattler ON 11:46 Rattler + Vibrato Xtreme Mode 14:25 Rattler + Tape Age Xtreme Mode 15:57 Final Jam in Dm 🤘 Like, leave a comment and subscribe if you dig the content! Thanks a ton! Go Grab a Delay Llama Xtreme here: https://www.jampedals.com/delay-llama-xtreme/ So why is the Delay Llama Xtreme the ultimate Analog Delay? It's got tap tempo and subdivisions. It's got four user presets that you can easily save to and recall. It's got expression control and control voltage. It's got trails/buffered or true bypass signal chain. You can tap and hold the tap switch to make the pedal self-oscillate. It's all analog featuring bucket brigade chips with up to 800ms of delay time. It's got four different and wildly creative modulation modes. You can make it do tape delay flutter! You can make it work like a vibrato or chorus! It's insane! It's, well... xtreme. It's got four Xtreme modes which push the analog delay sound even further by tweaking the modulation into vibrato, tape delay, random and pitch shifting possibilities. Today I'm featuring it with my Benson Vincent and my Prisma Sunset featuring Lollar Pickups gold foils. The Delay Llama is in the effects loop of the Vincent. I am also co-featuring the Jam Pedal Rattler to bring a little (ok, a lot) of distortion into the mix. Thorpy FX Deep Oggin
So, let's talk about why you need a chorus pedal... Beyond the over-the-top '80s sounds that chorus is known for, it is capable of so much more. The ThorpyFX Deep Oggin is an analog chorus and vibrato co-designed with Dan Coggins, previously of Lovetone. Really amazing to see these two heavyweights collaborating on a device, and boy does it bring that amazing, chewy analog texture. I am showcasing chorus, vibrato, and all the tones in between thanks to the awesome Blend knob using my Nash Jazzmaster JM63 with Lollar Pickups into my Benson Vincent. The room is mic'd with a Royer R10, and the 2x12" cab is mic'd with a Royer R-121 and Shure SM57, all into my Universal Audio Apollo x4. #geardemos #thorpyfx #edgeofbreakup #guitarpedals #guitarpedal #analogchorus #choruspedal #analogchoruspedal #modulationpedals #modulation #modulationpedal #chorus #guitarplayer #guitareffects #guitarist
