One Watt Plus | Milkman Sound | Cranked Tone, At Any Volume!
The Milkman Sound One Watt Plus with a Jupiter 12-LA alnico speaker, played with my Giordano Guitars Tributo Korina Special, the Reeves Electro May Boost, and the Effectrode Tube Vibe. Welcome back to Edge of Breakup.
The One Watt Plus is a true Class A, single-ended, all-tube amp running two 6V6s in parallel, good for 10 watts clean and about 18 watts of harmonically rich overdrive, with onboard power scaling that drops it down to 1 watt so you can chase the same tone at bedroom volume. The Jupiter 12-LA alnico speaker brings a classic American alnico voice, woody and lively on top, breaking up nicely as the amp gets pushed.
The Giordano Guitars Tributo Korina Special is loaded with Sunbear ‘58 Archive SB-PAF Humbuckers, an Alnico II bridge at about 8.1K and an Alnico III neck at about 7.4K, wired with Emerson Custom Treble Bleeds so the guitar volume knob keeps its highs as you roll back. Sunbear’s ‘58 Archive set was inspired by a very special original PAF, with a bridge known for its midrange character and airy top end and a neck that stays open and clear.
The Reeves Electro May Boost is a Brian May style treble booster built around a Micro Electronics C1016R Red Dot transistor, with an input transformer wired as an inductor and a Dynamite / Laser Beam voicing switch. The Effectrode Tube Vibe adds that three-dimensional, swirling modulation on top of whatever gain stage comes before it.
