James Greene builds Gronlund Guitars in his small shop on the coast of Maine — every guitar rough cut from kiln dried hardwood, handcrafted from scratch. James combined his love for music and craftsmanship to design a unique line of instruments that prioritize tonal balance, playability, and individual character. The SC18 is a single-cut semi-hollow — part thinline, part semi-hollow, with one f-hole rather than two and the acoustic complexity that brings. One piece Honduran Mahogany body. Maine Hard Maple neck. African Ebony fretboard and headstock face cap. 59' C neck profile (.860" at first fret, tapering to .960" at 12th). Set neck. Satin nitrocellulose lacquer, hand rubbed with 0000 steel wool for a low luster brushed finish. 500k CTS audio pots with treble bleed. Orange Drop capacitors. Switchcraft output jack. TonePros wraparound bridge.
This build is fitted with TV Jones TV Classic Filter'Tron-style pickups in humbucker-sized rout — Tom Jones' flagship model, the one Brian Setzer chose in a blind test against vintage pickups during his Gretsch signature development. Warm, clear, and chimey with that unmistakable Filter'Tron character. The SC18's semi-hollow Mahogany construction gives the TV Classics more acoustic body to work with than a typical solid guitar, producing a particularly resonant and open result across all positions.
