The Colorsound Buzzaround is a lesser-known British fuzz circuit from the late 1960s — related to the Tone Bender family but with its own distinct architecture and character. Strong, loud fuzz tones with great sustain and relatively low background noise compared to other circuits of the era. Sof's Buzzabout is a faithful reproduction using the highest quality NOS components throughout.
Transistors: Newmarket CV7007 and Mullard OC42 germanium, hand-selected. NOS Sylvania germanium diode. NOS Mullard Mustard C296 polyester capacitors. NOS Philips electrolytic capacitors. NOS Allen Bradley carbon composition resistors. Premium Cliff UK jacks. 22 AWG solid core silver-plated copper wire with Teflon insulation. Lead-free silver-based solder. True bypass. Genuine Hammond aluminium enclosure, powder-coated. 3 years warranty.
Three controls: Fuzz, Volume, Tone. The all-knobs-cranked territory is explored from 02:31, with volume knob cleanup from 04:01 — the Buzzaround's interaction with the guitar volume control producing its own specific character distinct from the Fuzz Face or Tone Bender circuits covered in previous Expresso FX demos on the channel.
